Better Software for Apple Mac osx

Five Ways to Start the Tool

There are a number of different ways in which you can start A Better Finder Rename to suit your individual needs and preferences.

1) As a stand-alone application

Simply double click the application icon, the dialog below will appear:

You can now drag & drop the files you wish to rename from the Finder into the preview list on the left-hand side, or you can press the "Add Files..." button at the bottom of the preview list to bring up a file dialog.

2) Using the Finder's Contextual Menu

This startup method is described in detail in the Quick Start Guide.

3) Using the Hot Key combination

Select the files you want to rename in the Finder. Hold down the Command and the Control key and press the 'R' key.

4) Drag & dropping files onto the application icon

You can also select the files in the Finder and then drag them onto the A Better Finder Rename application icon; the dialog will open and show the dragged files in the preview list.

If you like this method of starting the tool you may want to place the application icon in the Mac OS X dock

5) Using a Droplet

You can save a set of renaming options to a new independent application called a "droplet". Dragging files from the Finder onto such a droplet will automatically apply its rename settings to these files.
